My goal this year is to be more relaxed.
To let things go and to enjoy the moment.
This is no easy task for this super type-A mama.
I have decided that habits are the way to go for me.
When I have certain things that I know will happen on auto-pilot, it frees up space in my mind to be more at ease.
Each month I will work on four daily habits. My big goal is for each one to be on auto-pilot by the end of the month.
Four Habits for February
#1 Spend 5 minutes doing a quick tidy up before I leave the house
It is so frustrating to come home to a mess.
Recently, I started setting a timer about 5-10 minutes before I needed to leave the house.
While the kids were getting their shoes on, I did a super quick tidy up.
This helped me to come home to a serene home that was not filled with clutter.
#2 Get up around the same time every day
Studies show that getting up around the same time every day stabilizes the circadian rhythm and makes for a more productive day.
This does not have to be a super early wake time.
Right now, I get up at 7 a.m., which gives me a few minutes of peace before my kids wake up for the day.
#3 Run the dishwasher every evening
In my January habits, I challenged myself to unload the dishwasher every morning.
Obviously, this means that I need to be in the habit of running it every evening as well.
This will be an easy habit to add. Before I get under the covers, I make sure the dishwasher is running.
#4 Spend 10 minutes every evening doing a quick tidy up
This is similar to the tidy up before leaving the house.
Setting a timer for 10 minutes and doing a quick pick up also makes it easier to get up in the morning.
