October, November, and December are such a whirlwind.
It so easy to get caught up in the busyness, the treats, the gifts, the parties.
None of this is wrong, but I truly think we need to be sure we are reaching our children’s hearts.
Moms, if we do not have a plan, our kids are going to get caught up in the holiday.
And MISS THE ENTIRE MEANING.
So we need a plan, a path, a way for us all to keep our hearts in the holiday.
I have created a plan to keep the heart in the holidays.
Onto the ideas…here are 5 ways to keep you and your kids’ hearts in Thanksgiving.
#1 GRAB THE LOVE LETTER SERIES BOOK – It’s Not About You Mrs. Turkey.
These books do such an amazing job of explaining the history and meaning of each holiday.

#2 DO A UNIT STUDY
Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to review historical facts.
This unit study has activities for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary-aged students.

Thank you Meet Penny!
#3 MAKE A THANKFUL JAR
Making a thankful jar can be really simple, especially when you have this free printable.
Do not let decorating the jar intimidate you.
Even a plain mason jar with the printable and some markers to write will do the job.
Focus on gratitude this Thanksgiving.
#4 PREPARE YOUR FAMILY’S HEART FOR THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY SEASON
The best way I have found to do this by following the 12 Days of Personal Progress.
The Personal Progress Helper has the perfect list. Click here to check out.
Use the 12 days to prepare you mentally and emotionally for the holiday stresses.
#5 PUT ON A SIMPLE THANKSGIVING PLAY
Kids love to act out just about anything.
Let them get creative this Thanksgiving by putting on a play for the guests.
Here is the free printable play.
There are even ideas for making simple Thanksgiving costumes with construction paper.
