Life truly is an adventure….even when others do not see it.
Last year I lost my identity.
I let the world, society, and others tell me how my life should be lived.
I forgot that life truly is an adventure….even when others do not see it.
I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom to 5 kids.
My adventure is my faith, my home, my husband, and my children.
But the world tells me that is not enough.
You see to the world adventure is travel and exploration and money and riches and fame.
None of that is part of my story. So…
I let the world tell me that my life is not an adventure.
I compared my adventure to those around me.
I let the world teach me about the obsession of appearance, the perception of worth, and the redefinition of the family.
Well, today I am here to tell you that my life is an adventure and no one can tell me differently.
What is your life about? Where has your journey taken you?
My identity is firmly rooted in my beliefs and it is from this that my adventure stems.
I have firmly decided not to let the world tell me that my jobs as a Christian, wife, and mom are not enough.
It is enough. I am enough. And this is my adventure.
My adventure may look very different from the world’s view of an adventure, but it is mine to take.
My days are filled with snuggles, teaching, cleaning, encouraging, disciplining, laughing…
In fact, no two days are ever the same.
Some mornings I am up before the kids taking time to myself.
Others are spent snuggling in bed with a box of applesauce.
Criticism hits the hardest when others find out that we homeschool.
Homeschooling is a huge part of our life and one that receives the most criticism.
I constantly receive pressure to take more time for myself. “Put your kids in school and just relax.” “School is a way of life. Everyone sends their kids to school.”
It is when these comments arise that I must remember this is my adventure.
Life truly is an adventure..even when others do not see it.
My adventure lies in the stories I read to my children.
The lessons at the chalkboard.
Our days spent in our school room.
Playing, loving, learning, seeking.
To the world, this is not an adventure, but to me, it is the most daring adventure one can take.
I have five precious children to raise for the Lord.
It is my job to constantly remind them who they are so that their decisions will reflect their identity in Christ.
But I first have to know my identity and know that it is enough.
This is my adventure, and I am loving every minute.
Maybe it is time to reevaluate what the world has been telling you.
Have you lost your identity and let the world tell you what your adventure should be?
Do not let anyone tell you what your adventure should look like.
Life is an adventure, girl. Go find yours. And live it.
