Here is a super fun game for preschoolers and toddlers to work on number recognition.
It is called Put Out the Fire.
I saw this idea on Creekside Learning and decided to make my own version based on this idea.
Step 1 is to draw houses on the ground with sidewalk chalk.
For the younger kids, I placed one number in each house.
For my 4-year-old, I made an apartment building with several numbers.
The kids took turns.
Armed with a cup of water, I would yell out “Fire in House Number 5!”
The cute kiddo armed with his water would run to the house and pour the water on the number.
Once that fire was out, it was someone else’s turn.
They did this over and over.
As you can see from the pictures, the kids really got into getting the fire out!
There are so many ways you could play this game.
It would be fun to do a variation with water guns!
It would be special to dress up like firemen first!!
The above is my super simple version as a homeschooling mom of 5.
Get outside and practice numbers while playing Put Out the Fire!
